As for what follows: I advise you and myself to hold firmly to the religion, and to patience and certainty, as Allah says, "So be patient. Indeed, the outcome is for the righteous."
O servants of Allah, every living person lives in a great blessing, the true value of which only the deceased (dead) are aware! This blessing is the reason for success for those who seize it, and a cause of loss for those who abandoned it; it is the blessing of time!
In honor of time, Allah swears by it in His Book, swearing by (the dawn, the forenoon, and the afternoon); indeed, He swears by all of time: its night and its day. Allah Almighty says: "By the night when it covers * And the day when it appears"
Allah changes the time from darkness to brightness to awaken the hearts for the remembrance of the Knower of the unseen. Allah says: "And it is He who made the night and the day in succession for whoever desires to remember or desires gratitude"
From the moment a human sets foot in this abode, they are travelers to the abode of permanence; the duration of their journey is their lifetime and the time allotted to them! Allah says, "O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it". Al-Hasan said: "O son of Adam, you are but days; whenever a day passes, a part of you has gone!".
And from the greatest blessings of Allah upon a servant is a long life combined with righteous deeds. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "The best of people are those who live longer and their deeds are good."
The righteous predecessors made the most of their lifetimes and were diligent about their time! Al-Hasan al-Basri said: "I met people who were more protective of their time than you are of your dinars and dirhams."
Health and leisure are capital, and the profitable are those who seize times of well-being! The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Two blessings which many people lose: (They are) health and free time for doing good." Ibn Uthaymeen said, "This should motivate the wise, as long as they are in a state of health and leisure, to be eager for righteous deeds, so that if they are incapacitated by illness or preoccupation, they will be recorded for them in full."
And none but those whom Allah has favored and inspired can appreciate times of well-being: Allah says:"And none are granted it except those with great portion [of good]." Ibn Qudamah says, "Seize your precious life, guard your precious times, and know that all life is short, and what remains of it is minor. In this brief life lies eternal bliss or painful torment; so do not waste the jewels of your life in vain, and strive that not a single breath is devoid of obedience."
The fortunate one is the one who makes the most of his time and hastens to the paradise of his Lord; the deprived is the one bereft of the blessings of time, Allah says:"And his matter is ever in neglect." Ibn Uthaymeensays, "If you see your time passing, your life fading, and you haven't produced anything useful or beneficial, and you find no blessing in time, beware that it may be that you are included by Allah’ssaying: 'And do not obey the one whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance and who follows his desire and whose affair is ever [in] neglect'".
A Muslim is jealous of his time being wasted without benefit; he sets his goals and plans his time, with no room for idleness or despair, and no frustration or laziness! And his motto is as Allah says, "So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship], and to your Lord direct [your] longing".
As for what follows: Indeed, the life of this world is short, so be zealous about your times, stingy with your moments, or else you will regret when regret is of no avail! Ibn Masud said: "I have never regretted anything as much as I regret a day whose sun has set, in which my lifespan has decreased and my deeds have not increased." Ibn al-Qayyim said, "Wasting time is worse than death; because wasting time cuts you off from Allah and the Hereafter, whereas death cuts you off from the world and its people."
And every breath of life is a precious jewel that can purchase a treasure among treasures, whose bliss is unending forever! Wasting these breaths is a great loss; and this loss will be apparent on the Day of Deception, Allah says: "On the Day when every soul will find what it has done of good present [before it]".
Know that tomorrow you will stand before Allah, and you will be asked about your times; in the Hadith "the feet of the servant will not move on the Day of Resurrection until he is asked about his lifetime and how he spent it."
Every absence may return, except for lost time! It is breaths that do not return, so seize your lifetimes: by accumulating good deeds and raising your ranks; and know that the duration of your lives is limited, and your breaths are counted, Allah says: "And Allah will not delay a soul when its time has come, and Allah is Acquainted with what you do"
* * * *
* اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا في أَوْقَاتِنَا وأَعْمَارِنَا، واسْتَعْمِلْنَا في طاعَتِك.
* اللَّهُمَّ أَعِزَّ الإِسْلامَ والمُسْلِمِينَ، وأَذِلَّ الشِّرْكَ والمُشْرِكِيْن.
* اللَّهُمَّ فَرِّجْ هَمَّ المَهْمُوْمِيْنَ، وَنَفِّسْ كَرْبَ المَكْرُوْبِين.
* عِبَادَ الله: ﴿إِنَّ اللهَ يَأْمُرُ بِالعَدْلِ وَالإحْسَانِ وَإِيتَاءِ ذِي الْقُرْبَى وَيَنْهَى عَنِ الْفَحْشَاءِ وَالمُنْكَرِ وَالْبَغْيِ يَعِظُكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ﴾.
* فَاذْكُرُوا اللهَ يَذْكُرْكُمْ، وَاشْكُرُوْهُ على نِعَمِهِ يَزِدْكُمْ ﴿وَلَذِكْرُ اللهِ أَكْبَرُ وَاللهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَصْنَعُونَ﴾.
