الخُطْبَةُ الأُوْلَى

إِنَّ الحَمْدَ لِلهِ، نَحْمَدُهُ وَنَسْتَعِينُهُ، وَنَسْتَغْفِرُهُ ونَتُوبُ إِلَيه، مَنْ يَهْدِ اللهُ فَلَا مُضِلَّ لَهُ، وَمَنْ يُضْلِلْ فَلَا هَادِيَ لَهُ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ.

أَمَّا بَعْدُ: فَأُوْصِيْكُمْ وَنَفْسِي بِتَقْوَى اللهِ؛ فَهِيَ سَبَبٌ لِولَايَةِ الرَّحْمَنِ، وَنَفْي الخَوْفِ والأَحْزَانِ! ﴿أَلَا إِنَّ أَوْلِيَاءَ اللهِ لَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ* الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَكَانُوا يَتَّقُونَ﴾.  

To proceed: I advise you and myself to be conscious of Allah; for it is the reason for the alliance of the Most Merciful, and the removal of fear and sadness! "Unquestionably, the allies of Allah will have no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve, those who believed and were conscious of Allah."

 

عباد الله: إِنَّهُ كَنْزٌ ثَمِين، وَسِرٌّ دَفِين، لا يَسْتَخْرِجُهُ إِلَّا المُتَدَبِّرُون، وَلا يَكْشِفُهُ إِلَّا المُتَفَكِّرُوْن؛ إِنَّهُ في قَوْلِهِ ﷻ: ﴿وَأَنَّ إِلَى رَبِّكَ المُنْتَهَى﴾.

O servants of Allah: It is a precious treasure and a hidden secret, only extracted by those who reflect, and only unveiled by those who ponder; it is in His saying, "And that to your Lord is the finality."

 

﴿وَأَنَّ إِلى رَبِّكَ المُنْتَهى﴾؛ فَهُوَ المَقْصُودُ في جَمِيعِ الحَوَائِجِ؛ لِأَنَّهُ الوَاحِدُ الأَحَد، لا يَحْتَاجُ إلى أَحَد، وَيَحْتَاجُ إِليهِ كُلُّ أَحَد! قال U: ﴿قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ* اللهُ الصَّمَدُ﴾. قال المُفَسِّرُون: (الصَّمَدُ: هُوَالَّذِي يَنْتَهِي إِلَيْهِ السُّؤْدُد، ويَصْمُدُ إِلَيْهِ النَّاسُ في حَوَائِجِهِم).

"And that to your Lord is the finality"; He is the ultimate goal in all needs; for He is the One, the Unique, not in need of anyone, yet everyone is in need of Him! Allah said, "Say, He is Allah, [who is] One, Allah, the Eternal Refuge." The commentators said: (The Eternal Refuge: He to whom people turn in all their needs).

 

﴿وَأَنَّ إِلى رَبِّكَ المُنْتَهى﴾؛ فَيَسْتَحِيلُ أَنْ يَكُونَ المُنْتَهَى إلى اثْنَيْن؛ كَمَا يَسْتَحِيلُ أَنْ يَكُونَ ابْتِدَاءُ المَخْلُوقَاتِ مِنِ اثْنَيْن!﴿وَقَالَ اللهُ لَا تَتَّخِذُوا إِلَهَيْنِ اثْنَيْنِ إِنَّمَا هُوَ إِلَهٌ وَاحِدٌ فَإِيَّايَ فَارْهَبُونِ﴾.

"And that to your Lord is the finality"; it is impossible for the ultimate destination to be two, just as it is impossible for the creation to have originated from two! "And Allah has said, 'Do not take for yourselves two deities. He is but one God, so fear only Me.'" 

 

وَعُلُومُ البَشَرِ وَعُقُوْلُهُمْ؛ تَنْتَهِي عِنْدَ عِلْمِ اللهِ وعَظَمَتِهِ؛ لِأَنَّهُأَعْظَمُ وأَجَلُّ مِنْ أَنْ تُحِيطَ بِهِ عُقُولُ البَشَر! قال ﷺ: (يَأْتِي الشَّيْطَانُ أَحَدَكُمْ فَيَقُولُ: مَنْ خَلَقَ كَذَا؟ مَنْ خَلَقَ كَذَا؟ حَتَّى يَقُولَ: مَنْ خَلَقَ رَبَّكَ؟! فَإِذَا بَلَغَهُ؛ فَلْيَسْتَعِذْ بِاللهِ، وَلْيَنْتَهِ).

The knowledge and intellect of humans end at the knowledge and greatness of Allah; for He is greater and more majestic than to be comprehended by human minds! The Prophet ﷺ said: (Satan comes to one of you and says, 'Who created this? Who created that?' until he says, 'Who created your Lord?' When it reaches this point, let him seek refuge in Allah and stop.)

 

﴿وَأَنَّ إِلى رَبِّكَ المُنْتَهى﴾؛ فَهُوَ نِهَايَةُ كُلِّ مَطْلُوبٍ. وَكُلُّ مَحْبُوبٍ لا يُحَبُّ لِأَجْلِهِ؛ فَمَحَبَّتُهُ عَنَاءٌ وَعَذَابٌ، وَكُلُّ عَمَلٍ لا يُرَادُ لِأَجْلِهِ؛فَهُوَ ضَائِعٌ بَاطِلٌ! ﴿ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللهُ هُوَ الحَقُّ وَأَنَّ مَا يَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِهِ هُوَ الْبَاطِلُ﴾.

"And that to your Lord is the finality"; it is the end of all desires. And every beloved that is not loved for His sake, its love is toil and torment, and every deed not intended for His sake is lost and futile! "That is because Allah is the Truth, and what they call for other than Him is falsehood."

 

 

 

وَلا بُدَّ لِلْقَلْبِ مِنْ مَطْلُوبٍ يَنْتَهِي إِلَيْهِ، وَيَطْمَئِنُّ بِه؛ وَهَذَا لا يَكُونُ إِلَّا للهِ! ﴿أَلَا بِذِكْرِ اللهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ﴾.

The heart must have an ultimate desire towards which it ends and finds tranquility; and this can only be for Allah! "Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured".

 

 

﴿وَأَنَّ إِلى رَبِّكَ المُنْتَهى﴾؛ فَلَا يَسْتَقِرُّ القَلْبُ، حَتَّى يَصِلَ إلى الرَّبِّ!قال I: ﴿إِلى رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ المُسْتَقَرُّ﴾. يقولُ ابنُ القَيِّم: (اللهُ غَايَةُ كُلِّ مَطْلَبٍ، وَلَيْسَ وَرَاءَ اللهِ مَرْمَى، وَلَا دُونَهُ مُسْتَقَرٌّ، وَلَا تَقَرُّ الْعَيْنُ بِغَيْرِهِ الْبَتَّةَ!).

"And that to your Lord is the finality"; the heart does not settle until it reaches the Lord! Allah said, "To your Lord that day will be the permanence." Ibn al-Qayyim said: (Allah is the goal of every desire, and there is no target beyond Allah, no place of rest below Him, and the eyes find no comfort except in Him!) 

 

﴿وَأَنَّ إِلى رَبِّكَ المُنْتَهى﴾؛ فَكُلُّ قَلْبٍ لا يَصِلُ إِلَيه؛ فَهُوَ شَقِيٌّ مَحْجُوْبٌ عَنِ السَّعَادَةِ، مَهْمَا بَلَغَ النِّهَايَةَ في نَعِيمِ الدُّنيا! كما قال U: ﴿وَمَنْ أَعْرَضَ عَنْ ذِكْرِي فَإِنَّ لَهُ مَعِيشَةً ضَنْكًا﴾.

"And that to your Lord is the finality"; any heart that does not reach Him is miserable and veiled from happiness, no matter how far it reaches in the worldly bliss! As Allah said, "And whoever turns away from My remembrance - indeed, he will have a depressed life."

 

والغَايَاتُ وَالكَمَالاتُ؛ كُلُّهَا تَنْتَهِي إلى رَبِّ البَرِيَّات؛ فَهُوَ المُتَفَرِّدُبِالكَمَالِ وَالجَمَالِ وَالجَلَالِ! ﴿فَاعْبُدْهُ وَاصْطَبِرْ لِعِبَادَتِهِ هَلْ تَعْلَمُ لَهُ سَمِيًّا﴾.

All goals and perfections end with the Lord of creation; He is unique in perfection, beauty, and majesty! "Soworship Him and persevere in His worship. Do you know of any similarity to Him?"

 

وَإَذَا كانَ المُنْتَهَى إِلَى الله؛ فَاجْعَلْهُ غَايَتَكَ الَّتِي لا غَايَةَ لَكَسِوَاه! قال ابنُ القَيّم: (فَكَمَا انْتَهَتْ إِلَيهِ الأَوَاخِر؛ فَاجْعَلْنِهَايَتَكَ إِلَيْه. وكَمَا كانَ وَاحِدًا في إِيْجَادِكَ؛ فَاجْعَلْهُوَاحِدًا في عُبُوْدِيَّتِكَ. وَكَمَا ابْتَدَأَ وُجُوْدَكَ؛ فَاجْعَلْهُنِهَايَةَ إِرَادَتِكَ وَحُبِّك!).

And if the ultimate end is to Allah, then make Him your ultimate goal that you have no goal other than Him! Ibn al-Qayyim said: (As the ends are consummated in Him, make your end to Him. As He was One in creating you, make Him One in your servitude. As He began your existence, let Him be the end of your will and love!)

 

﴿وَأَنَّ إِلى رَبِّكَ المُنْتَهى﴾ في كَشْفِ الضُّرِّ، وَجَلْبِ النَّفْعِ! ﴿وَإِنْ يَمْسَسْكَ اللهُ بِضُرٍّ فَلَا كَاشِفَ لَهُ إِلَّا هُوَ وَإِنْ يَمْسَسْكَ بِخَيْرٍ فَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ﴾.

يقول ابنُ عُثَيْمِين: (وَكَمْ مِنْ إِنْسَانٍ انْعَقَدَتْ لَهُ أَسْبَابُالرِّزْقِ، وَإِذَا هُوَ يُحْرَمُ مِنْهَا في آخِرِ لَحْظَةٍ! إذاً؛ فَلا يَجْلِبُالخَيْر، وَيَمْنَعُ الضَّرَرَ إِلَّا الله؛ فَاجْعَلْهُ مُنْتَهَاكَ في كُلِّأُمُوْرِكَ).

"And that to your Lord is the finality" in removing harm and bringing benefit! "And if Allah touches you with harm, none can remove it but Him; and if He touches you with good, then He is capable of all things." Ibn Uthaymeen said: (And how many a man has the means of provision tied up, but he is deprived of it at the last moment! Therefore, none brings good or prevents harm except Allah; make Him your ultimate goal in all your matters.)

 

وَإِذَا كانَ المُنْتَهَى إِلَى الله؛ فَأَخْلِصْ لَهُ العَمَل؛ فَإنَّ (مَا أُرِيْدَ بِهِوَجْهُ اللهِ يَبْقَى)؛ لِأَنَّهُ مُتَّصِلٌ بِالبَاقِي الذي لا يَفْنَى!

And if the end is to Allah, then make your deeds sincere for Him; for (what is intended for the face of Allah will remain); because it is connected with the Eternal who does not perish!

 

﴿وَأَنَّ إِلى رَبِّكَ المُنْتَهى﴾: إِنَّهَا قَاعِدَةٌ عَظِيْمَةٌ: تُحَدِّدُ وِجْهَةَ المُسْلِمِ، وَتُوَجِّهُ بُوْصَلَةَ قَلْبِهِ إلى رَبِّه! قال تعالى: ﴿أَفَمَنْ يَمْشِي مُكِبًّا عَلَى وَجْهِهِ أَهْدَى أَمَّنْ يَمْشِي سَوِيًّا عَلَى صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ﴾.

"And that to your Lord is the finality": It is a great principle: it defines the direction of the Muslim, and guides the compass of his heart towards his Lord! Allah the Almighty said, "Then is one who walks fallen on his face better guided or one who walks erect on a straight path?"

 

﴿وَأَنَّ إِلى رَبِّكَ المُنْتَهى﴾: وَهَذِهِ إِشَارَةٌ إِلَى أَنَّ الإِنْسَانَ يَنْتَهِي عِنْدَحُدُودِ الله، وَيَقِفُ عِنْدَهَا؛ كَمَا أَمَرَهُ اللهُ بِقَوْلِهِ: ﴿تِلْكَ حُدُودُ اللهِفَلَا تَعْتَدُوها﴾.

"And that to your Lord is the finality": This is a reference that man ends at the limits set by Allah, and stands at them; as Allah commanded in His saying: "These are the limits [set by] Allah, so do not transgress them."

 

 

﴿وَأَنَّ إِلى رَبِّكَ المُنْتَهى﴾؛ فَمَهْمَا طَالَتِ الدُّنْيا؛ فَلَا بُدَّ لَهَا مِنْنِهَايَةٍ! ﴿كُلُّ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَانٍ* وَيَبْقَى وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ﴾، ومُنْتَهَى الْخَلْقِ وَمَصِيرُهُمْ إِلَى اللهِ، وَهُوَ مُجَازِيْهِمْ بِأَعْمَالِهِم! ﴿ثُمَّ رُدُّوا إِلَى اللهِ مَوْلَاهُمُ الحَقِّ أَلَا لَهُ الحُكْمُ وَهُوَ أَسْرَعُ الحَاسِبِينَ﴾.

"And that to your Lord is the finality"; however long the world lasts, it must come to an end! "Everyone upon the earth will perish, and there will remain the Face of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor.", and the end of creation and their return is to Allah, and He is their recompenser according to their deeds! "Then they will be returned to Allah, their true Lord, and He is the quickest of accountants."

 

 

 

﴿وَأَنَّ إِلى رَبِّكَ المُنْتَهى﴾: إِنَّهَا تَسْلِيَةٌ لَكَ أَيُّهَا المَظْلُوم؛ حِينَتَعْلَمُ أَنَّ المُنْتَهَى إلى الحَكَمِ العَدْلِ، وَسَيَقْتَصُّ مِمَّنْ ظَلَمَكَ!

"And that to your Lord is the finality": It is a consolation for you, O oppressed, when you know that the ultimate end is to the Just Judge, and He will exact retribution from those who wronged you!  

 

وَإِذَا عَلِمَ الإِنْسَانُ، أَنَّ المُنْتَهَى إلى الرَّحْمَنِ؛ فَقَدِ اخْتَصَرَ الطَّرِيقَ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ؛ فَلَنْ يَتَعَلَّقَ بِالخَلَائِقِ، وَإِنَّمَا يَفِرُّ -مَبَاشَرَةً-إلى الواحِدِ الخَالِقِ، وَلِسَانُ حَالِهِ يَقُولُ: ﴿فَفِرُّوا إِلَى اللهِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ مِنْهُ نَذِيرٌ مُبِينٌ﴾.

And when a man knows that the ultimate end is to the Most Merciful; he has indeed shortened the path for himself; he will not cling to creations, but will flee directly to the One, the Creator, and his condition speaks: "So flee to Allah. Indeed, I am to you from Him a clear warner."

 

أَقُوْلُ قَوْلِي هَذَا، وَأسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ لِيْ وَلَكُمْ مِنْ كُلِّ ذَنْبٍ؛ فَاسْتَغْفِرُوْهُ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الغَفُورُ الرَّحِيم

 

الخُطْبَةُ الثَّانِيَةُ

الحَمْدُ للهِ عَلَى إِحْسَانِهِ، والشُّكْرُ لَهُ عَلَى تَوْفِيْقِهِ وَامْتِنَانِه، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاإِلَهَ إِلَّا الله، وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُوْلُه.

 

أَمَّا بَعْدُ: فَمَنْ أَيْقَنَ أَنَّ المُنْتَهى إلى اللهِ؛ فَلَنْ يَثِقَبِالأَسْبَابِ، كما أَنَّهُ لَا يُسْقِطُهَا؛ فَإِنَّ الأَسْبَابَ تَنْتَهِي لا مَحَالَةَ، والتَّعَلُّقُ بِهَا؛ تَعَلُّقٌ بِمَا يَنْعَدِمُ. وَالتَّعَلُّق بِاللهِ U؛تَعَلُّقٌ بِالحَيِّ الَّذِي لا يَمُوتُ! ﴿كُلُّ شَيْءٍ هَالِكٌ إِلَّا وَجْهَهُ* لَهُ الحُكْمُ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ﴾.

To proceed: Whoever is certain that the end is to Allah, will not trust in causes, nor will he discard them; for causes inevitably end, and attachment to them is attachment to what vanishes. And attachment to Allah is attachment to the Living who does not die! "Everything will perish except His face. His is the judgment, and to Him you will be returned."

* اللَّهُمَّ أَعِزَّ الإِسْلامَ والمُسْلِمِينَ، وأَذِلَّ الشِّرْكَ والمُشْرِكِيْن.

* اللَّهُمَّ فَرِّجْ هَمَّ المَهْمُوْمِيْنَ، وَنَفِّسْ كَرْبَ المَكْرُوْبِين.

* عِبَادَ الله: ﴿إِنَّ اللهَ يَأْمُرُ بِالْعَدْلِ وَالإحْسَانِ وَإِيتَاءِ ذِي الْقُرْبَى وَيَنْهَى عَنِ الْفَحْشَاءِ وَالمُنْكَرِ وَالْبَغْيِ يَعِظُكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ﴾.

* فَاذْكُرُوا اللهَ يَذْكُرْكُمْ، وَاشْكُرُوْهُ على نِعَمِهِ يَزِدْكُمْ ﴿وَلَذِكْرُ اللهِ أَكْبَرُ وَاللهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَصْنَعُونَ﴾.
