دع المقاديــر تجري في أعنتــها و لا تبيتـن إلا خالــي البال
ما بين غمـضة عين و انتبـاهتها يغير الله من حال إلى حال
Let destiny run with slackened reins, and
pass the night at ease, for in the
twinkling of an eye, God changes
one state into another.
فمن عاش فــــي ذل فذلك ميــت و من مات عن فضل فذلك خـــالد
و من لم يمت بالسيف مات بغيره تعددت الأسبــــاب و الموت واحــد
He who lives in humiliation is considered as dead,
but he who dies honourably is regarded as
immortal.And he who does not dye
by the sword, will one day die from
other cuases ; for though the causes
of death are various , yet death does not change

إن قل مالــي فلا خل يصــاحبني أو زاد مــالي فكل الناس خُــلاني
فكم صديــق لبذل المال صاحبني و صــاحب عند فقد المال خلانــي
When my wealth fails, no one befriends me; but when it abounds,
all men are my friends. How many friends for the sake of wealth
have been my companions. And my companions, in time of need,
have deserted me.

المرء في زمن الإقبــال كالشــجرة و الناس من حولـها ما دامــت الثمرة
حتى إذا راح عنها حملها رحــــلوا و خـلفوهــا تقاســي الحر و الغبــــرة
تبــــا لأبنــــاء هذا الدهـــر كلـــهم حتـى و لا واحــد يصــفو من العشرة
A man in prosperity is like a tree to which people flock
as long as it bears fruit, but once it has ceases to
produce, they depart from beneath it, and live it
suffer the heat and the dust. Woe to all the people
of this age, that out of ten not one is a true friend.

لا تحمــدن امرأَََ حتــى تجربه و لا تـذمنــه من غير تـجريب
Never praise or condemn a person until you have
First tried him

هذا ما جنــاه أبي عليَ و ما جنيت على أحــد
This wrong was done to me by my father,
but never have I wronged any one.

ما في زمانك من ترجـو محبتهُ و لا صديق إذا جار الزمان وفى
فعش فريدا و لا تكن إلى أحــد فقد نصــحتك فيما قلتُه و كفــــى
In these times there is no one whom you
should trust. Live then apart, and rely upon
no man. I have given you in these words
good advice: let that be enough.
