Summary
1) The great favour of Allaah of returning Al-Quds (Jerusalem) to the Muslims.
2) The Virtues of Al-Quds and Al-Aqsaa.
3) A call to remain persistent with Jihaad and obedience to Allaah.
First Khutbah
“All praise is (due) to Allaah, Lord of the worlds. The Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. Sovereign of the Day of Recompense. It is You (alone) we worship and You (alone) we ask for help. Guide us to the straight path. The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favour, not of those who have evoked (Your) anger or of those who are astray."(Al-Faatihah).
“So the people that committed wrong were eliminated. And praise to Allaah, Lord of the worlds." (Al-An’aam: 45).
“All praise is (due) to Allaah, Who created the heavens and the earth and made the darkness and the light. Yet those who disbelieve equate (others) with their Lord. (Al-An’aam: 1).
“And Say: ‘Praise to Allaah, Who has not taken a son and has had no partner in (His) dominion and has no (need of a) protector out of weakness; and magnify Him with (great) magnification’". (Al-Israa’: 111).
“All praise is (due) to Allaah, who has sent down upon His Servant (Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) the Book and has not made therein any crookedness. (He has made it) straight to warn of severe punishment from Him and to give good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a good reward (i.e. Paradise). In which they will remain forever" (Al-Kahf: 1-3).
“Say ‘Praise be to Allaah, and peace be upon His servants whom He has chosen. Is Allaah better or what they associate with Him?" (An-Naml: 59).
“All Praise is (due) be to Allaah, to Whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth, and to Him belongs (all) praise in the Hereafter. And he is the Wise, the Acquainted." (As-Saba’: 1).
“All praise is (due) to Allaah, Creator of the heavens and the earth, (who) made the angels messengers having wings, two three or four. He increases in creation what He wills. Indeed, Allaah is over all things competent."(Faatir: 1).
All Praise is due to Allaah Who honoured Islaam and gave it victory while humiliating polytheism and defeating its people. All affairs are under His command; He continues to grant bounties when He is thanked. He has decreed that the conditions under which people live fluctuate as time passes, but has promised the future to the pious. He bestowed His favours upon His slaves and made His religion superior to all others. He is The All-Powerful Who cannot be resisted. His commands are not subject to discussion or review. He Rules and can never be opposed.
I thank Him for His victory, His support and the might He granted to His slaves and supporters of His religion. I also thank Him for purifying Al-Aqsaa from the filth of polytheism. The thankfulness and gratitude are from one who is overwhelmed with gratitude.
I bear witness that there is no deity except Allaah and that He has no partners. He is One and Only and The Eternal. He neither begets nor was He begotten. And there is none equivalent to Him. This is a testimony from one who purified his heart from polytheism, and is content with his Lord.
I testify that Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam is His slave and messenger, who cleared all doubts, refuted falsehood, and rinsed away all lies. He was the one taken from Al-Haram of Ka’bah to Al-Aqsaa, then elevated to the Heavens, at the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary, near the garden of Refuge; His sight did not swerve, nor did it transgress the limits. May the Peace and Blessings of Allaah be sent upon him and Abu Bakr who was the first to accept Islaam, ‘Umar Ibn Al-Khattaab who was the first to purify this Mosque (Al-Aqsaa) from the cross, ‘Uthmaan Ibn ‘Affaan ‘The possessor of the two lights’who collected The Qur’aan, ‘Ali Ibn Abi Taalib who shook polytheism and broke the idols, and upon all his companions and those who followed after them with righteousness.
O People! I give glad tidings to you of the pleasure of Allaah, which is the utmost objective and the highest rank, for what you have done. You retrieved what this ummah had lost, freeing it from the hands of the polytheists who possessed it for nearly one-hundred years. You purified this Mosque which Allaah ordered be built - and His Name mentioned therein. You eliminated the effect of polytheism on it and replaced it with monotheism, for this Mosque was founded on monotheism and piety.
This is the land of your father Ibraaheem, the place from which your Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam initiated his ascent to the Heavens. It was your Qiblah (direction of prayer) in the early stages of Islaam; the abode and place of refuge for all Prophets, the place upon which revelations descended, the land of resurrection - and it stands on the holy land that Allaah mentioned in His Book. This is the Mosque in which the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam led Salaah, with the closest angels to Allaah behind him; this is where Allaah sent His slave and Prophet ‘Eesaa the son of Mariam Whom He honoured with His message and prophethood, and this did not in any way alter his status as a slave of Allaah, as Allaah says that which translates as: “Never would the Messiah disdain to be a servant of Allaah, nor would the angels near (to Him)" (An-Nisaa’: 172).
Misguided where those who attributed false things to Allaah: “Allaah has not taken any son, nor has there ever been with Him any deity. (If there had been), then each deity would have taken what it created, and some of them would have sought to overcome others. Exalted is Allaah above what they describe (concerning Him)." (Al Mu’minoon:91).
“They have certainly disbelieved who say that Allaah is Christ, the son of Mariam. Say, ‘Then who could prevent Allaah at all if He intended to destroy Christ, the son of Mariam, or his mother or everyone on the earth?’ And to Allaah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them. He creates what He wills, and Allaah is over all things competent. But the Jews and the Christians say, ‘We are the children of Allaah and His beloved’. Say, ‘Then why does He punish you for your sins?’Rather, you are human beings from among those He has created. He forgives whom He wills, and He punishes whom He wills. And to Allaah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, and to Him is the (final) destination. O People of the Scripture, there has come to you Our Messenger to make clear to you (the religion) after a period of (suspension of) messengers, lest you say, ‘There came not to us any bringer of good tidings or a warner’. And Allaah is over all things competent." (Al Maa’idah: 17-19).
This Mosque is the first of the two Qiblahs and the third in rank after the two Harams (Makkah & Madeenah). If you where not special people, Allaah would not have chosen you from amongst his slaves for such a virtuous deed. This is an honour that cannot be surpassed. You are blessed, an army among which prophetic miracles appeared. Miracles similar to those at Badr occurred to you, along with and combats like those at Khaibar. May Allaah reward you with the best reward on behalf of His Prophet, and accept your sacrifice - the blood you shed. May He grant you Jannah, the abode of the exultant.
Appreciate this favour and thank Allaah practically. It is indeed a great favour to choose you for this service and conquer, for which the gates of the Heavens opened, devoted angels rejoiced, and the Prophets delighted. What a great favour it is to be the army that conquered Al-Quds at the end of time and the soldiers who raised by their swords the banners of faith.
Is this not the house which Allaah mentioned in His Book saying that which translates as: “Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from the Sacred Mosque (Al-Masjid Al Haram in Makkah) to the Farthest Mosque (Al-Masjid Al-Aqsaa in Al-Quds) whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing." (Al Israa’: 1). Is this not the house which kings honoured, messengers praised and the four revealed Books from Allaah where recited in? Is this not the house where Allaah delayed the sunset in order for one of His Prophets, Yawsha’ (Joshua), to fight the non-believers until he recaptured it from them? Is this not the house that Allaah commanded Moosaa (Moses) to rescue, but only two of the children of Israel (his followers) responded to his call, therefore Allaah punished them by making them wander in the desert for forty years.
Thank Allaah who made you determined whilst the children of Israel faltered. Even though He favoured them over the rest of His creation, He enabled you to accomplish what other nations before you failed to do - to be united after you where divided amongst yourselves. Be congratulated, for Allaah Has praised you in front of the angels and made you His soldiers after you were enslaved by your desires. The closest angels to Allaah thanked you for submitting the gift of monotheism to this house, spreading Allaah’s glorification in it and eliminating the filth and polytheism and the evil belief of the trinity. The angels in the heavens and the earth are all seeking forgiveness, mercy, and blessings for you.
Preserve this gift that Allaah granted you; protect it by adhering to piety which rescues those who adhere to it. Beware of following your vain desires or retreating after this. Take advantage of this chance and continue in Jihaad to please Allaah. Do not let Satan deceive you and make you feel proud thinking that you achieved this victory by your swords and by your power. No! I swear by Allaah that victory is only from Allaah the All Mighty, All Wise.
Slaves of Allaah! Beware of committing great or major sins after Allaah chose you for this great victory and selected you for this honour. Otherwise, you would then be like someone who undid their spun thread after it was strong, or like he who had knowledge of the signs of Allaah but he detached himself from them; so Satan pursued him and he became one of those who went astray.
Jihaad is one of the finest and most honourable acts of worship. Support the religion of Allaah and Allaah will support you; remember Allaah and Allaah will remember you; be grateful to Allaah for His favours and He will grant you more. Strive hard to purify the rest of mankind who have incurred the wrath of Allaah, finish the enemy and eliminate them from their roots. These days have called out for the return of Islaam and the faith of Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. Allaahu Akbar, Allaah gave victory and supported the Muslims, and humiliated the disbelievers and defeated them.
Remember that this is an opportunity, so take advantage of it; this is an assignment so show determination in achieving it. Prepare for it, and face it with eagerness. Remember that all matters are judged by how they end. Allaah gave you victory over this humiliated enemy, although they were equal in number to you, or perhaps slightly more than you. Therefore, what would the result be now, seeing as you have twenty men for each of theirs? Allaah says that which translates to: “O Prophet! Urge the believers to battle. If there are among you twenty (who are steadfast), they will overcome two hundred. And if there are among you one hundred (who are) steadfast, they will overcome a thousand of those who have disbelieved because they are a people who do not understand" (Al-Anfaal: 65).
May Allaah assist us all in following His commands and refraining from His prohibitions; may Allaah grant us all a great victory from Him. Allaah says that which translates to:
“If Allaah should aid you, no one can overcome you; but if He should forsake you, who is there that can aid you after Him? And upon Allaah let the believers rely." (Aal- ‘Imraan: 160).
The most excellent and honourable thing to say in this stance, are the words of Allaah, The One and Only, The Allmighty, The All Knowing. Allaah says that which translates to: “So when the Qur’aan is recited, then listen to it and pay attention that you may receive mercy" (Al- A’raaf: 204).
He also says that which translates to: “Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth exalts Allaah, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise. It is He who expelled the ones who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture from their homes at the first gathering. You did not think they would leave, and they thought that their fortresses would protect them from Allaah; but (the decree of) Allaah came upon them from where they had not expected, and He cast terror into their hearts (so) they destroyed their houses by their (own) hands and the hands of the believers. So take warning, O people of vision" (Al-Hashr: 1-2).
I command myself and you all with all what Allaah commanded, to comply with all that He ordered and to refrain from all what He forbade. Do not disobey Allaah. I seek His forgiveness for me and you al
