Dear Muslims, Have Taqwa of Allah and be mindful of him, and obey him, and do not disobey him as he said:

O ye who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared, and die not except in a state of Islam

Dear Muslims: The day of Friday is one of the greatest of days, and the best of them in honor and grace, the Prophet ﷺ said: “The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday; on it Adam was created. on it he was admitted to Paradise, on it he was expelled from it. And the last hour will take place on no day other than Friday”.

Dear Muslims: Allah, the Most High, has chosen the day of Friday over other days, and singled it out for the Ummah of Islam; the Prophet ﷺ said: (Allah diverted those who were before us. For the Jews (the day set aside for prayer) was Sabt (Saturday), and for the Christians it was Sunday. Then Allah brought us and guided us to Friday, (as the day of prayer) for us.

And how many virtues have gathered on this day! It is the Eid of the week, during which Muslims gather for the Friday prayer; exemplifying the command of the Most High: (O you who believe, when [the adhan] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumu'ah[Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allah and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew).

The Prophet ﷺ said: (The Five prayers; and from one Friday prayer to (the next) Friday prayer; is an expiation (of the sins committed in between their intervals) if major sins are not committed). Ibn al-Qayyim said: (whoever has a righteously correct Friday, the rest of his week will also be righteously correct).

Among the greatest loss and deprivation: missing Jumu’ah(Friday prayers)! The Prophet ﷺ said: (People must stop neglecting, missing Jumu’ah! or Allah will seal up their hearts and they will be among the negligent).

And for the virtue and honor of the day of Friday; Allah swearsby it in the Quran – and Allah does not swear by anything except that it is immensely important - where the Most High says: (And [by] the witness and what is witnessed), the Scholars of Tafseersaid: (the witness: the day of Jumu’ah), meaning: it is a day witnessing for us or against us of what we have done of good or bad deeds, that is why the Muslim should take advantage of this day: by doing good deeds, raising ranks, and increasing supplications.

Among the deeds that should be done on this great day: bathing, cleaning, and applying perfume for the Friday prayer; he said ﷺ: (If any man bathes on Friday, purifies himself as much as he can with ablution, anoints himself with oil, or puts on a touch of perfume which he has in his house, then goes out and, without squeezing between two men, prays what is prescribed for him, then remains silent when the imam speaks, his sins between that time and the next Friday will be forgiven him).

Among the practices that have a great reward: being early for Friday prayer (on foot, if possible); the Prophet ﷺ says: (When Friday comes the angels stand at the door of the mosque recording the people in the order of their arrival. The example of the one who enters the mosque early is like one who offers a camel (in sacrifice), the next like one who offers a cow, then the next like a sheep, then like a hen, then like an egg. Then when the imam comes they fold up their sheets and listen to the mention of Allah). In another hadith the Prophet ﷺ says: (If anyone washes and bathes on Friday, goes out early بَكَّرَ (comes to prayer at the beginning of its time)وَابْتَكَر (comes at the beginning of the khutbah), goes near to the imam and listens without interrupting, he will have the reward of a year’s fasting and praying for every step he takes). Al-Sakhawi said: (I do not know a hadith that is much rewarded, with little action, that is more authentic than a hadith of : “بَكَّرَ وَابْتَكَر!”).

And Friday is the master of days, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺis the master of people, so sending blessings and salutations upon him on this day is an advantage that no one else has. He ﷺ said: (Invoke many blessings on me on Friday, and Friday night).

Dear Muslims: Friday is an opportunity for every Muslim; that he might heal his broken heart, which was scattered during the days of the week, indeed among the blessings of this day that has a time in which none supplicates except that it is accepted, he said ﷺ: (There is a time on Friday at which no Muslim will ask Allah for what is good except He gives it to him).

So be diligent in supplication on that day, especially during the times when they are more likely to be answered such as during the Friday prayer, in prostration, between the call to prayer and the Iqama, and in the last hours after the ‘Asr prayer; the Prophet ﷺ said: (So seek it in the last hour after the ‘Asr prayer prayer),  Ibn al-Qayyim said: (And this hour is the last hour after the ‘Asrprayer; glorified by all the people!)

It was said that when Saeed bin Jubayr prayed the Asr prayer, he wouldn’t speak to anyone until the sun had set! (So for this let the competitors compete).
