الخُطْبَةُ الأُوْلَى

إِنَّ الحَمْدَ لِلهِ نَحْمَدُهُ ونَسْتَعِينُهُ، ونَستَغفِرُهُ ونَتُوبُ إِلَيه، ونَعَوذُ باللهِ مِن شُرُورِ أَنفُسِنَا، وسَيّئَاتِ أعمالِنَا؛ مَنْ يَهْدِ اللهُ فلا مُضِلَّ لَه، ومَنْ يُضْلِلْ فلا هَادِيَ لَه، وأَشهَدُ أَنْ لا إلهَ إلَّا اللهُ وَحدَهُ لا شَرِيكَ لَه؛ وأَشهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبدُهُ ورَسُولُهُ، صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيهِ وعلى آلِهِ وصَحبِهِ، وسَلَّمَ تَسلِيمًا كَثِيرًا.

أمَّا بَعْدُ: إنَّه بَابٌ عَظِيمٌ، مَنْ دَخَلَهُ كانَ مِنَ الآمِنِيْن! ومَنْ أُغْلِقَ في وَجْهِهِ، كانَ مِنَ الهالِكِيْن؛ إنَّه بابُ الجَنَّة!

The doors of Jannah are a great opportunity—whoever enters through them will be among the successful, and whoever is denied entry will be among the losers.

فَتَعالَوا بِنَا نَطْرُقُ هذا البابَ، ونَتَعَرَّف على أَسبَابِ دُخُولِه؛ عَسَى أَنْ يَكُونَ ذَلِكَ سَبَبًا لِفَتْحِهِ، والدُّخُولِ إلى دارِ السَّعَادَةِ الأَبَدِيَّة!

Let us strive to understand the means to enter these doors, so that Allah may grant us access to eternal bliss.

ومِنْ فَضْلِ اللهِ U: أنْ جَعَلَ الجَنَّةَ أَبوَابًا مُتَعَدِّدَة؛ قال تعالى:﴿وَسِيقَ الَّذِينَ اتَّقَوْا رَبَّهُمْ إلى الجَنَّةِ زُمَرًا حَتَّى إِذَا جَاءُوهَا وفُتِحَتْ أَبوَابُهَا﴾؛ قال ﷺ: (في الجَنَّةِ ثَمَانِيَةُ أَبوَابٍ).

From Allah's mercy, He has created multiple doors for Jannah. Allah says: "But those who feared their Lord will be driven to Paradise in groups until, when they reach it while its gates have been opened..."

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "In Paradise, there are eight gates."

ومِنْ عَظَمَةِ الجَنَّةِ وفَخَامَتِهَا: أنَّ أبوابَها عَظِيمَةٌ وَاسِعَة، مَهِيْبَةٌ فَاخِرَة! قال ﷺ: (والَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ، إِنَّ مَا بَيْنَ المِصْرَاعَيْنِ مِنْ مَصَارِيعِ الجَنَّةِ: كَمَا بَيْنَ مَكَّةَ وحِمْيَر!). أَيْ: كما بَيْنَ مَكَّةَوصَنْعَاء. والمِصْرَاعَان: هُمَا جَانِبَا الباب.

The greatness of Jannah is reflected in the magnificence of its doors. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "By the One in Whose hand is my soul, the distance between the two sides of the gate of Paradise is like the distance between Makkah and Himyar (i.e. Makkah and Sana'a)."

والمُسَارَعَةُ إلى الخَيرَات؛ وَسِيْلَةٌ إلى أَبوَابِ الجَنَّات! (فَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهلِ الصَّلاَةِ: دُعِيَ مِنْ بَابِ الصلاَةِ، ومَنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهلِ الجِهَادِ:دُعِيَ مِنْ بَابِ الجِهَادِ، ومَنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهلِ الصِيَامِ: دُعِيَ مِنْ بَابِ الرَيَّانِ، ومَنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهلِ الصَّدَقَةِ: دُعِيَ مِنْ بَابِ الصَّدَقَةِ).

Hastening towards good deeds is the key to entering Jannah. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever is among the people of prayer will be called from the gate of prayer; whoever is among the people of jihad will be called from the gate of jihad; whoever is among the people of fasting will be called from the gate of Ar-Rayyan; and whoever is among the people of charity will be called from the gate of charity."

والبَابُ الأَيمَنُ مِن أَبوَابِ الجَنَّة: خَاصٌّ لِـمَنْ يَدخُلُونَها مِنْ غَيرِحِسَابٍ ولا عِقَاب!؛ فَفِي الحديثِ: (يَا مُحَمَّدُ: أَدْخِلْ مِنْ أُمَّتِكَ -مَنْ لا حِسَابَ عَلَيْهِمْ- مِنَ البَابِ الأَيْمَنِ مِنْ أَبوَابِ الجَنَّةِ). 

One special gate of Jannah, known as the "right-hand gate," is reserved for those who will enter without reckoning or punishment. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "O Muhammad, admit into Paradise from your nation those who will not be held accountable, through the right-hand gate."

وأَصحَابُ الهِمَمِ العَالِيَةِ، لا يَرْضَوْنَ إلَّا بالدُّخُولِ مِنْ أبوابِ الجنَّةِ الثمانية! سَأَلَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الصِدِّيقِ t النَبِيَّ ﷺ: (هَلْ يُدْعَى أَحَدٌ مِنْ تِلْكَ الأَبوَابِ كُلِّهَا؟)، فقال ﷺ: (نَعَمْ، وأَرْجُو أَنْ تَكُونَ مِنْهُمْ). 

The righteous strive to enter through all the gates of Jannah. Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Prophet (peace be upon him): "Will anyone be called from all these gates?" The Prophet replied, "Yes, and I hope you will be one of them."

ومَنْ زَاحَمَ اليومَ في الطَّاعَات؛ زَاحَمَ غَدًا على أَبوابِ الجَنَّات! قال عُتْبَةُ بنُ غَزوانَ t: (مَا بَيْنَ مِصْرَاعَيْنِ مِنْ مَصَارِيعِ الجَنَّةِ: مَسِيرَةُ أَربَعِينَ سَنَةً! ولَيَأْتِيَنَّ عَلَيهَا يَومٌ وهُوَ كَظِيظٌ مِنَ الزِّحَامِ!).

Those who compete in obedience today will compete at the gates of Jannah tomorrow. Utbah ibn Ghazwan (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The distance between the two sides of the gate of Paradise is the journey of forty years, and a day will come when it will be crowded."

وكَلِمَةُ التوحيدِ: هِيَ مِفتَاحُ بَابِ الجَنَّة! قال ﷺ: (مَنْ قَالَ: أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، وأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ ورَسُولُهُ،وأَنَّ عِيسَى عَبْدُ اللهِ وابْنُ أَمَتِهِ، وكَلِمَتُهُ أَلْقَاهَا إلى مَرْيَمَ ورُوحٌ مِنْهُ، وأَنَّ الجَنَّةَ حَقٌّ، وأَنَّ النَّارَ حَقٌّ= أَدْخَلَهُ اللهُ مِنْ أَيِّ أَبوَابِ الجَنَّةِ الثَّمَانِيَةِ شَاءَ). قِيلَ لِوَهْبِ بنِ مُنَبِّه: (أَلَيْسَ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ مِفْتَاحُ الجَنَّةِ؟)، قال: (بَلَى، ولَكِنْ لَيْسَ مِفْتَاحٌ إِلَّا لَهُ أَسْنَانٌ، فَإِنْ جِئْتَ بِمِفْتَاحٍ لَهُ أَسْنَانٌ فُتِحَ لَكَ، وإِلَّا لَمْ يُفْتَحْ لَكَ). وأَسْنَانُه: هِيَ الأعمال.

The key to Jannah is the declaration of faith. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever says, 'I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone without partner, and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, and that Isa is His servant and messenger, and His word delivered to Maryam, and a spirit from Him, and that Paradise is true, and Hellfire is true' will enter through any of the eight gates of Paradise he wishes."

When someone asked Wahb ibn Munabbih, "Isn't 'La ilaha illa Allah' the key to Paradise?" He replied, "Yes, but every key has teeth. If you bring the key with the right teeth, the door will open for you; otherwise, it will not."

وأَبوابُ الجَنَّةِ لا تُفْتَحُ لأَحَدٍ إِلَّا مِنْ طَرِيقِ النَبِيِّ ﷺ؛ فَلَوْ أَتَى النَّاسُ مِنْ كُلِّ طَرِيق، واسْتَفْتَحُوا مِنْ كُلِّ باب؛ لَـمَا فُتِحَ لَهُمْ؛ حتى يَكُونُوا خَلْفَهُ مِنَ الدَّاخِلِيْن، وعلى مِنْهَاجِهِ مِنَ السَّالِكِين! قال ﷺ: (آتي بابَ الجَنَّةِ يَومَ القِيامَةِ فأسْتفْتِحُ، فيَقولُ الخازِنُ: مَن أنْتَ؟ فأقُولُ: مُحَمَّدٌ، فيَقولُ: بكَ أُمِرْتُ لا أفْتَحُ لأَحَدٍ قَبْلَك!).

No one can enter Jannah except through the path of the Prophet (peace be upon him). He said: "I will come to the gate of Paradise on the Day of Resurrection and seek to open it. The gatekeeper will ask, 'Who are you?' I will say, 'Muhammad.' He will say, 'I was commanded not to open for anyone before you.'"

ومَنْ طَهَّرَ بَدَنَهُ بِالوُضُوء، وقَلْبَه بـالتَوحيدِ؛ فُتِحَتْ لَهُ أَبوابُ الجَنَّة! قال ﷺ: (ما مِنكُم مِنْ أحَدٍ يَتَوَضَّأُ فيُسْبِغُ الوُضُوءَ، ثُمَّ يقولُ: "أَشْهَدُ أنْ لا إلَهَ إلَّا الله، وأنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عبدُ اللهِ ورَسولُهُ"؛ إلَّا فُتِحَتْ لَهُ أَبوابُ الجَنَّةِ الثَّمانِيَةُ، يَدْخُلُ مِنْ أَيِّها شاءَ).

Purifying the body with wudu and the heart with faith opens the doors of Jannah. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever performs wudu and perfects it, then says, 'I testify that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger,' the eight gates of Paradise will be opened for him, and he may enter through whichever he wishes."

ومَنْ طَهَّرَ قَلْبَهُ: مِنَ الحَسَدِ والبَغضَاء، والغِلِّ والشَّحْنَاء؛ فُتِحَتْ لَهُ أَبوَابُ الرَّاحَةِ في الدُّنيا، وأَبوابُ الجَنَّةِ في الآخِرَة! قال ﷺ: (تُفْتَحُ أَبوابُ الجَنَّةِ يَومَ الإثْنَيْنِ، ويَومَ الخَمِيسِ؛ فَيُغْفَرُ لِكُلِّ عَبْدٍ لا يُشْرِكُ باللهِ شيئًا، إلَّا رَجُلًا كانَتْ بَيْنَهُ وبَيْنَ أَخِيهِ شَحْناءُ! فَيُقَالُ: أَنْظِرُوا هَذَيْنِ حَتَّى يَصْطَلِحَا).

Cleansing the heart from envy, hatred, and grudges also grants access to Jannah. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The gates of Paradise are opened on Mondays and Thursdays, and every servant who does not associate anything with Allah is forgiven, except for a person who has enmity with his brother. It will be said: 'Hold off on these two until they reconcile.'"

والوَالِدَانِ: أَحَدُ أَبوَابِ الجِنَان! قال ﷺ: (الوالِدُ أَوسَطُ أَبوَابِ الجنَّةِ؛ فَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَأَضِعْ ذلك البابَ أَوِ احفَظْه).

Honouring one's parents is one of the doors to Jannah. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The father is the middle gate of Paradise, so if you wish, preserve it or neglect it."

وإِذَا صَلَّتِ المَرأَةُ خَمْسَهَا، وصَامَتْ شَهْرَهَا، وحَفِظَتْ فَرْجَهَا، وأَطَاعَتْ زَوْجَهَا؛ قِيلَ لَهَا: (اُدْخُلِي الجَنَّةَ مِنْ أَيِّ أَبوَابِ الجَنَّةِ شِئْتِ!). 

For women, fulfilling their religious obligations and obeying their husbands leads to Jannah. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "If a woman prays her five daily prayers, fasts her month, preserves her chastity, and obeys her husband, it will be said to her: 'Enter Paradise from whichever gate you wish.'"

ومِنْ أَبوابِ الجَنَّةِ: الصَّبْرُ على فَقْدِ الوَلَدِ، وفِلْذَةِ الكَبِد! قالﷺ -لِرَجُلٍ فَقَدَ وَلَدَه-: (أَمَا يَسُرُّكَ أَلَّا تَأْتِيَ بَابًا مِنْ أَبوَابِ الجَنَّةِ؛ إِلَّا وَجَدْتَهُ يَنْتَظِرُكَ؟!).

Patience in the face of the loss of a child is also a door to Jannah. The Prophet (peace be upon him) told a man who lost his child: "Does it not please you that you will come to a gate of Paradise and find him there awaiting you?"

وفي شَهرِ رمضانَ: تُفْتَحُ أَبوابُ الجِنَان؛ لِيَتَسَابَقَ إِلَيْهَا عِبَادُ الرَّحمن! قال ﷺ: (إِذَا دَخَلَ رَمَضَانُ: فُتِّحَتْ أَبوَابُ الجَنَّةِ، وغُلِّقَتْ أَبوَابُ جَهَنَّمَ).

In the month of Ramadan, the gates of Paradise are opened so that the servants of the Most Merciful may race towards it! The Prophet ﷺ said:

"When Ramadan begins, the gates of Paradise are opened, and the gates of Hellfire are closed."

أَقُوْلُ قَولِي هذا، وأَستَغفِرُ اللهَ لِي ولَكُمْ مِنْ كُلِّ ذَنْبٍ؛ فَاستَغفِرُوهُ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الغَفُورُ الرَّحِيم

الخُطْبَةُ الثَّانِيَة

الحَمدُ للهِ على إِحسَانِه، والشُّكرُ لَهُ على تَوفِيقِهِ وامتِنَانِه، وأَشهَدُ أَن لا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، وأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبدُهُ ورَسُولُه.

أَمَّا بَعْدُ: فَإِنَّهُ إذا دَخَلَ أهلُ الجَنَّةِ الجَنَّةَ، لم تُغْلَقْ أَبوابُها؛ لأَنَّهُم في أَمَانٍ تَامٍّ، فَلَيْسَ في الجَنَّةِ خَوْفٌ يُوْجِبُ أَنْ تُغْلَقَ لأَجْلِهِ الأبواب:كما يُوْجَدُ في الدُّنيا! قال ﷻ: ﴿وإِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ لَـحُسْنَ مَآبٍ* جَنَّاتِ عَدْنٍ مُفَتَّحَةً لَهُمُ الأبْوَابُ﴾.

To proceed: When the people of Paradise enter Paradise, its doors will not be closed, because they will be in complete security. There is no fear in Paradise that would require its doors to be shut, unlike in this worldly life. Allah ﷻ says:

"Indeed, for the righteous is a good place of return – gardens of perpetual residence, whose doors will be open to them."

والطَّرِيقُ إلى بَابِ الجَنَّةِ: مَحْفُوفٌ بالمَكَارِه! ولَكِنْ مَنْ صَبَرَ ظَفَر، وسَلِمَ مِنَ الخَطَر، وصَارَ مَآلَهُ إلى دَارِ السَّلَام، وتَتَلَقَّاهُ المَلَائِكَةُ الكِرَام!قال Q-عن أَهلِ الجَنَّةِ-: ﴿والمَلائِكَةُ يَدْخُلُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْ كُلِّ بَابٍ*سَلامٌ عَلَيْكُمْ بِما صَبَرْتُمْ فَنِعْمَ عُقْبَى الدَّارِ﴾.

The path to the gates of Paradise is surrounded by hardships! However, whoever remains patient will succeed, will be safe from danger, and will eventually find their eternal home in the Abode of Peace. The noble angels will welcome them with honour. Allah ﷻ says regarding the people of Paradise:

"And the angels will enter upon them from every gate [saying]: Peace be upon you for what you patiently endured. And excellent is the final home."

* اللَّهُمَّ أَعِزَّ الإِسلامَ والمُسلِمِينَ، وأَذِلَّ الشِّركَ والمُشرِكِين، وارْضَ اللَّهُمَّ عَنِ الخُلَفَاءِ الرَّاشِدِين: أَبِي بَكرٍ، وعُمَرَ، وعُثمانَ، وعَلِيّ؛ وعَنِ الصَّحَابَةِ والتابعِين، ومَنْ تَبِعَهُم بِإِحسَانٍ إلى يومِ الدِّين.

* اللَّهُمَّ فَرِّج هَمَّ المَهمُومِينَ، ونَفِّسْ كَرْبَ المَكرُوبِين، واقْضِ الدَّينَ عَنِالمَدِينِين، واشْفِ مَرضَى المسلمين.

* اللَّهُمَّ أَنتَ اللهُ لا إِلَهَ إلَّا أَنتَ، أَنتَ الغَنِيُّ ونَحنُ الفُقَراء؛ أَنزِل عَلَينَا الغَيثَ، ولا تَجعَلْنَا مِنَ القَانِطِين.

* اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَستَغفِرُكَ إِنَّكَ كُنْتَ غَفَّارًا؛ فَأَرسِلِ السَّمَاءَ عَلَينَا مِدرَارًا.

* عِبَادَ الله: ﴿إِنَّ اللهَ يَأْمُرُ بِالعَدْلِ والإحْسَانِ وإِيتَآءِ ذِي القُرْبَى ويَنْهَى عَنِ الفَحْشَاءِ وَالمُنْكَرِ والبَغْيِ يَعِظُكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ﴾.

* فَاذكُرُوا اللهَ يَذْكُرْكُمْ، واشْكُرُوهُ على نِعَمِهِ يَزِدْكُمْ ﴿ولَذِكْرُ اللهِ أَكْبَرُ وَاللهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَصْنَعُونَ﴾.
