الخُطْبَةُ الأُوْلَى

إِنَّ الحَمْدَ لِلهِ، نَحْمَدُهُ وَنَسْتَعِينُهُ، وَنَسْتَغْفِرُهُ ونَتُوبُ إِلَيه، مَنْ يَهْدِ اللهُ فَلَا مُضِلَّ لَهُ، وَمَنْ يُضْلِلْ فَلَا هَادِيَ لَهُ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ.

أَمَّا بَعْدُ: فَأُوْصِيْكُمْ وَنَفْسِي بِتَقْوَى اللهِ، فَهِيَ أَعْظَمُ سَبَبٍ، وأَشْرَفُ نَسَبٍ، وَهِيَ مِفْتَاحُ العِلْمِ، وأَصْلُ الفَهْم! ﴿وَاتَّقُوا اللهَ وَيُعَلِّمُكُمُ اللهُ﴾.

As for what follows: I advise you and myself to observe the fear of Allah, for it is the greatest cause and the most noble lineage, and it is the key to knowledge and the root of understanding! Allah says: "And fear Allah; and Allah teaches you"

 

عِبَادَ الله: يَجْمَعُ اللهُ الأَوَّلِيْنَ وَالآخِرِيْنَ في صَعِيدٍ وَاحِدٍ، فَبَيْنَما هُمْ في أَرْضِ المَحْشَرِ، وَقَدْ دَنَتِ الشَّمْسُ مِنْهُمْ، وَأَصَابَهُمْ مِنَ الكَرْبِ ما لا يُطِيقُونَ= بَحَثُوا عَمَّنْ يَشْفَعُ لَهُمْ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ؛ كَي يُفَرِّجَ عَنْهُمْ مَا هُمْ فيهِ مِنَ البَلَاءِ، فَيَأْتُونَ إلى الأَنْبِيَاءِ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ، حَتَّى إِذَا أَتَوا إلى النبيِّ ﷺ، فَيَقُولُ: (أَنَا لَهَا)؛ فَيَشْفَعُ لَهُمْ في فَصْلِ القَضَاءِ! وَيَسْتَأْذِنُ عَلَى رَبِّهِ، وَيَخِرُّ لَهُ سَاجِدًا؛ فَيُقَالُ لَهُ: (يَا مُحَمَّدُ، ارْفَعْ رَأْسَكَ، وَقُلْ يُسْمَعْ لَكَ، وَسَلْ تُعْطَهْ، وَاشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ).

O servants of Allah, Allah will gather the first and the last in a single place. While they are in the land of gathering, and the sun is near them, and they suffer from distress they cannot bear, they seek someone to intercede for them with their Lord to relieve them from their plight. They approach the prophets who excuse themselves, until when they come to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), he says: "It is for me (to intercede);” thus he intercedes for them at the time of decision! He seeks permission from his Lord and falls down in prostration; it is then said to him: "O Muhammad, raise your head, speak and you will be heard, ask and you will be granted, intercede and your intercession will be accepted."

 

وَهَذَا هُوَ المَقَامُ المَحْمُودُ، الَّذِي يَحْمَدُهُ عَلَيْهِ الأَوَّلُونَ وَالآخِرُون! قال U: ﴿عَسَى أَنْ يَبْعَثَكَ رَبُّكَ مَقَامًا مَحْمُودًا﴾. قال المُفَسِّرُون: (هُوَ المَقَامُ الَّذِي يَقُومُهُ ﷺ يَوْمَ القِيَامَةِ لِلشَّفَاعَةِ لِلنَّاسِ؛ لِيُرِيْحَهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ مِنْ شِدَّةِ ذَلِكَ اليَوْمِ!).

And this is the praised station that the former and the latter will praise him for! Allah says: "Perhaps your Lord will raise you to a praised station". The commentators say: "It is the station that he, peace be upon him, will stand on the Day of Resurrection to intercede for the people; to relieve them from the severity of that Day by their Lord!"

وَلا دُخُوْلَ إلى الجَنَّةِ؛ إلَّا بَعدَ شَفَاعَةِ سَيِّدِ الأُمَّةِ؛ قال ﷺ: (آتِي بَابَ الجَنَّةِ يَومَ القيامةِ فَأَسْتَفتِحُ، فَيَقُولُ الخَازِنُ: مَنْ أَنْتَ؟ فَأَقُوْلُ: مُحَمَّدٌ، فَيَقُوْلُ: بِكَ أُمِرْتُ لا أَفْتَحُ لِأَحَدٍ قَبْلَك!).

And there is no entry into Paradise except after the intercession of the leader of the nation; the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "I will come to the gate of Paradise on the Day of Resurrection and ask to open it, and the keeper will ask: 'Who are you?' I will say: 'Muhammad,' and he will say: 'For you I was commanded to open, no one before you.'"

 

وَطَلَبُ الشَّفَاعَةِ مِنَ الرَّسُوْلِ ﷺ: إِنَّمَا يَكُونُ في (حَيَاتِهِ في الدُّنْيا، وفي القِيَامَة)؛ أَمَّا طَلَبُ الشَّفَاعَةِ مِنْهُ (بَعْدَ مَوتِه، وقَبْلَ البَعْثِ)؛ فَلَا يَجُوزُ؛ لِأَنَّ طَلَبَ الشَّفَاعَةَ مِمَّنْ لا يَمْلِكُهَا (كالأَمْوَاتِ)؛ شِرْكٌ بِالله!

فَإِنْ قِيلَ: إِنَّ طَلَبَ الشَّفَاعَةِ مِنْهُمْ وَسِيلةٌ لِلْتَّقَرُّبِ إلى اللهِ!

فَالجَوَاب: أَنَّ هَذَا هُوَ قَولُ (عُبَّادِ الأصنامِ)، سَواءً بِسَواء؛ حِينَ قَالُوا: ﴿مَا نَعْبُدُهُمْ إِلَّا لِيُقَرِّبُونَا إِلَى اللهِ زُلْفَى﴾.

Seeking intercession from the Messenger (peace be upon him) is only during his life in this world and on the Day of Resurrection; as for seeking intercession from him after his death and before the resurrection, it is not permissible; because seeking intercession from those who do not own it (like the dead) is associating partners with Allah!

If it is said that seeking their intercession is a means to draw closer to Allah!

The answer is: This is the saying of (idol worshipers), exactly alike; when they said: "We worship them only that they may bring us nearer to Allah"

 

 

 

وَالشَّفَاعَةُ مُلْكٌ للهِ وَحْدَه؛ ﴿قُلْ للهِ الشَّفَاعَةُ جَمِيعًا﴾؛ فَلَا تَجُوزُ أَنْ تُطْلَبَ بِلَا إِذْنٍ مِنَ اللهِ؛ ﴿وَلا تَنفَعُ الشَّفَاعَةُ عِندَه إِلَّا لِمَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ﴾؛ وَلِهَذَا لا يَجُوزُ أَنْ تُطْلَبَ الشَّفَاعَةُ مِنَ الأَمْوَاتِ؛ لِأَنَّ هَذَا لَمْ يَأْذَنْ بِهِ اللهِ؛ قال ﷻ: ﴿إِنْ تَدْعُوهُمْ لَا يَسْمَعُوا دُعَاءَكُمْ وَلَوْ سَمِعُوا مَا اسْتَجَابُوا لَكُمْ﴾.

And intercession belongs to Allah alone; "Say, 'To Allah belongs all intercession'"; it is not permissible to seek it without Allah's permission; "And intercession does not benefit with Him except for one He permits"; thus it is not permissible to seek intercession from the dead; for Allah did not permit this; Allah said, "Even if you call them, they will not hear your call, and even if they could hear, they would not respond to you"

 

وَالشَّفَاعَةُ البَاطِلَةُ: هِيَ الَّتِي تُطْلَبُ مِنْ غَيرِ اللهِ، فِيْمَا لا يَقْدِرُ عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا اللهُ؛ فَمَنْ أَرَادَ القُرْبَ مِنَ اللهِ؛ بِطَلَبِ الشَّفَاعَةِ مِنَ الأَمْوَاتِ؛ لَمْ يَزِدْهُ ذَلِكَ مِنَ اللهِ إِلَّا بُعْدًا! قال تعالى: ﴿وَيَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ اللهِ مَا لَا يَضُرُّهُمْ وَلاَ يَنفَعُهُمْ وَيَقُولُونَ هَؤُلاء شُفَعَاؤُنَا عِندَ اللهِ﴾.

The false intercession is that which is sought from other than Allah, in matters only Allah can do; whoever seeks closeness to Allah by asking for intercession from the dead only distances themselves further from Allah! Allah said: "And they worship besides Allah that which neither harms them nor benefits them, and they say, 'These are our intercessors with Allah'"

 

ولا تَنْفَعُ الشَّفَاعَةُ يَومَ القيامةِ ﴿إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ الرَّحْمَنُ وَرَضِيَ لَهُ قَوْلًا﴾. واللهُ لا يَرْتَضِي إِلَّا أَهْلَ التَّوْحِيدِ وَالإِخْلَاصِ؛ قال ﷺ: (أَسْعَدُ النَّاسِ بِشَفَاعَتِي؛ مَنْ قَالَ: "لا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ"، خَالِصًا مِنْ قَلْبِهِ).

And on the Day of Resurrection, "No intercession will benefit except for whom the Most Merciful permits and agrees to his word". And Allah does not approve except for the people of monotheism and sincerity; the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said: "The happiest of people with my intercession are those who say, 'There is no god but Allah,' sincerely from their hearts."

 

و(الكفار والمُشْرِكُونَ) لا نَصِيبَ لَهُمْ مِنْ شَفَاعَةِ الشَّافِعِينَ؛ لِأَنَّهُمْ سَدُّوا عَلَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ رَحْمَةَ أَرْحَمِ الرَّاحِمِيْن؛ قال I: ﴿فَمَا تَنْفَعُهُمْ شَفَاعَةُ الشَّافِعِيْنَ﴾.

And (the disbelievers and polytheists) have no share in the intercession of the intercessors; because they have blocked themselves from the mercy of the Most Merciful; Allah said: "So their intercession of the intercessors will not benefit them"

وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ شَفَاعَاتٌ بِقَدْرِ قُرْبِهِمْ مِنَ الله. قال شيخُ الإسلام: (وَالرَّجُلُ الصَّالِحُ قَدْ يُشَفِّعُهُ اللهُ فِيمَنْ يَشَاءُ، وَلَا شَفَاعَةَ إلَّا فِي أَهْلِ الْإِيمَانِ).

For the believers, there are intercessions according to their closeness to Allah. Sheikh al-Islam said: "And a righteous man may intercede through Allah for whomever He wishes, and there is no intercession except for the people of faith."

 

وَمِنْ فَضْلِ الإِسْلامِ: أَنَّ بَعضَ المسلمينَ يَشْفَعُونَ في إِخْرَاجِ إِخْوَانِهِمْ مِنَ النَّارِ؛ فَيَتَوَسَّلُونَ إلى رَبِّهِمْ، وَيُنَاشِدُوْنَهُ قَائِلِيْنَ: (رَبَّنَا، إِخْوَانُنَا كَانُوا يُصَلُّونَ مَعَنَا، وَيَصُومُونَ مَعَنَا، وَيَعْمَلُونَ مَعَنَا؛ فَيَقُولُ تَعَالَى: اذْهَبُوا، فَمَنْ وَجَدْتُمْ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِثْقَالَ دِينَارٍ مِنْ إِيمَانٍ؛ فَأَخْرِجُوهُ!).

And from the virtue of Islam: some Muslims intercede in extracting their brothers from the Fire; they implore their Lord, and appeal to Him, saying: "Our Lord, these are our brothers; they used to pray with us, fast with us, and act with us; then Allah the Almighty says: 'Go, and whoever you find in his heart as much as a dinar of faith, bring him out!'"

وَالصَّدِيقُ الصَّالِحُ: يَشْفَعُ لِصَاحِبِهِ المُسْلِمِ يَومَ القِيَامَةِ! قال U: ﴿فَلَيْسَ لَهُ الْيَوْمَ هَاهُنَا حَمِيمٌ﴾. يقول السِّعْدِي: (أَيْ: قَرِيْبٌ أو صَدِيقٌ يَشْفَعُ لَهُ؛ لِيَنْجُوَ مِنْ عَذَابِ اللهِ، أو يَفُوزَ بِثَوَابِ اللهِ).

And the righteous friend: intercedes for his Muslim friend on the Day of Resurrection! Allah said: "Today he has neither a close friend nor an intercessor". Al-Sa'di says: (Meaning: a relative or friend who intercedes for him; to escape from Allah's punishment, or to attain Allah's reward).

 

وَالشَّفَاعَةُ لِلْمِيِّتِ المُسْلِمِ: تَكونُ بِالصَّلَاةِ عَلَيْهِ، وَالدَّعَاءِ لَهُ. قال ﷺ: (مَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ مُسْلِمٍ يَمُوتُ، فَيَقُومُ عَلَى جَنَازَتِهِ أَرْبَعُونَ رَجُلًا، لَا يُشْرِكُونَ بِاللهِ شَيْئًا، إِلَّا شَفَّعَهُمُ اللهُ فِيهِ).

And the intercession for the deceased Muslim: occurs through prayer for him, and supplication for him. The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said: "No Muslim man dies, and forty men who do not associate anything with Allah stand at his funeral, except that Allah will intercede them in him."

 

وَمَنْ مَاتَ لَهُ وَلَدٌ (قَبْلَ البُلُوْغِ)، فَصَبَرَ وَاحْتَسَبَ؛ كانَ لَهُ شَفِيعٌ! قال ﷺ -لِأَحَدِ أَصْحَابِهِ وَقَدْ مَاتَ وَلَدُهُ-: (مَا يَسُرُّكَ أَلَّا تَأْتِيَ بَابًا مِنْ أَبْوَابِ الجَنَّةِ؛ إِلَّا وَجَدْتَهُ عِنْدَهُ يَسْعَى، يَفْتَحُ لَكَ!).

And for those whose child dies before reaching maturity, and they patiently hope for reward; they will have an intercessor! The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, to one of his companions whose child had died, said: "Would it not please you to come to any gate of Paradise but find him there rushing to open it for you!"

 

 

وَالصِّيَامُ وَالْقُرْآنُ: يَشْفَعَانِ لِلْعَبْدِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ، (يَقُولُ الصِّيَامُ: أَيْ رَبِّ، مَنَعْتُهُ الطَّعَامَ وَالشَّهَوَاتِ بِالنَّهَارِ، فَشَفِّعْنِي فِيهِ. وَيَقُولُ الْقُرْآنُ: مَنَعْتُهُ النَّوْمَ بِاللَّيْلِ، فَشَفِّعْنِي فِيهِ؛ فَيُشَفَّعَانِ).

And fasting and the Quran: will intercede for the servant on the Day of Resurrection, it is mentioned in a hadith that (fasting will say: "O Lord, I prevented him from food and desires during the day, so let me intercede for him. And the Quran will say: "I kept him awake at night, so let me intercede for him"; thus they will both intercede).

أَقُوْلُ قَوْلِي هَذَا، وَأسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ لِيْ وَلَكُمْ مِنْ كُلِّ ذَنْبٍ؛ فَاسْتَغْفِرُوْهُ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الغَفُورُ الرَّحِيم

 

الخُطْبَةُ الثَّانِيَةُ

الحَمْدُ للهِ عَلَى إِحْسَانِهِ، والشُّكْرُ لَهُ عَلَى تَوْفِيْقِهِ وَامْتِنَانِه، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنْ لا إِلَهَ إِلَّا الله، وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُوْلُه.

أَمَّا بَعْدُ: فَمَنْ قَالَ حِينَ يَسْمَعُ النِّدَاءَ: (اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ هَذِهِ الدَّعْوَةِ التَّامَّةِ، وَالصَّلاَةِ القَائِمَةِ؛ آتِ مُحَمَّدًا الوَسِيلَةَ وَالفَضِيلَةَ، وَابْعَثْهُ مَقَامًا مَحْمُودًا الَّذِي وَعَدْتَهُ)؛ حَلَّتْ لَهُ شَفَاعَةُ النبيِّ ﷺ يَوْمَ القِيَامَةِ.

As for what follows: Whoever says upon hearing the call to prayer, "O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and the prayer to be established, grant Muhammad the rank of intercession and virtue, and raise him to the praised rank that You have promised," will have the intercession of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, on the Day of Resurrection.

 

وأَخِيرًا؛ فَإِنَّ المُسْلِمَ يُؤْمِنُ بِـالشَّفَاعَةِ يومَ القيامة، وَلَكِنَّهُ لا يَتَّكِلُ عَلَيها، ويَتَرُكُ العَمَل؛ فَإِنَّهُ لا شَفَاعَةَ أَعْظَمُ مِنْ شَفَاعَةِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ، ومَعَ ذَلِكَ فَقَدْ حَذَّرَ أَقْرَبَ النَّاسِ إِلَيْهِ قَائِلًا: (يَا فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتَ مُحَمَّدٍ، سَلِينِي مَا شِئْتِ مِنْ مَالِي، لَا أُغْنِي عَنْكِ مِنَ اللهِ شَيْئًا!).

Finally, a Muslim believes in intercession on the Day of Resurrection, but does not rely solely on it and neglect their deeds. For there is no greater intercession than that of Muhammad, peace be upon him. Yet, he warned even his closest relatives, saying: "O Fatimah, daughter of Muhammad, ask me for whatever you wish from my wealth, but I cannot avail you against Allah in the slightest."

* اللَّهُمَّ أَعِزَّ الإِسْلامَ والمُسْلِمِينَ، وأَذِلَّ الشِّرْكَ والمُشْرِكِيْن.

* اللَّهُمَّ فَرِّجْ هَمَّ المَهْمُوْمِيْنَ، وَنَفِّسْ كَرْبَ المَكْرُوْبِين.

* عِبَادَ الله: ﴿إِنَّ اللهَ يَأْمُرُ بِالْعَدْلِ وَالإحْسَانِ وَإِيتَاءِ ذِي الْقُرْبَى وَيَنْهَى عَنِ الْفَحْشَاءِ وَالمُنْكَرِ وَالْبَغْيِ يَعِظُكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ﴾.

* فَاذْكُرُوا اللهَ يَذْكُرْكُمْ، وَاشْكُرُوْهُ على نِعَمِهِ يَزِدْكُمْ ﴿وَلَذِكْرُ اللهِ أَكْبَرُ وَاللهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَصْنَعُونَ﴾.
