الخُطْبَةُ الأُوْلَى

إِنَّ الحَمْدَ للهِ، نَحْمَدُهُ وَنَسْتَعِينُهُ، ونَسْتَغْفِرُهُ ونَتُوبُ إِلَيه، مَنْ يَهْدِ اللهُ فَلَا مُضِلَّ لَهُ، ومَنْ يُضْلِلْ فَلَا هَادِيَ لَهُ، وأَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ ورَسُولُهُ.

All praise is due to Allah; we praise Him, seek His help, seek His forgiveness, and turn to Him in repentance. Whomsoever Allah guides, none can lead astray, and whomsoever He allows to stray, none can guide. I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, alone without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.

أَمَّا بَعْدُ: فَأُوْصِيْكُمْ ونَفْسِي بِتَقْوَى اللهِ ﷻ؛ فَهِيَ خَيْرُ الزَّادِوالعَتَاد، وأَعْظَمُ الاِسْتِعْدَادِ لِيَوْمِ المَعَاد! قال U: ﴿وَمَا تَفْعَلُوا مِنْ خَيْرٍ يَعْلَمْهُ اللهُ وَتَزَوَّدُوا فَإِنَّ خَيْرَ الزَّادِ التَّقْوَى وَاتَّقُونِ يَا أُولِي الْأَلْبَابِ﴾.

To proceed: I advise myself and you to have Taqwa (piety) towards Allah, for it is the best provision and the greatest preparation for the Hereafter. Allah Almighty says: “And whatever good you do - Allah knows it. And take provisions, but indeed, the best provision is fear of Allah. And fear Me, O you of understanding.”

عِبَادَ الله: في أَيَّامِ الاِخْتِبَارَات، تُعْلَنُ حَالَةُ الطَّوَارِئ؛ لِيَسْتَعِدَّ الطُلَّابُ لِأَسْئِلَةِ الاِمْتِحَان، وفي هذا تَذْكِيْرٌبِامْتِحَانِ الآخِرَةِ، وقَدْ أَقْسَمَ اللهُ بِذَاتِهِ العَلِيَّة، على أَنَّهُسَيَتَوَلَّى امْتِحَانَ البَشَرِيَّة! ﴿فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسْأَلَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ* عَمَّا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ﴾.

Servants of Allah: In times of exams, students prepare to answer their questions, and this is a reminder of the ultimate test in the Hereafter. Allah Himself has sworn that He will question humanity: “So by your Lord, We will surely question them all about what they used to do.”

 

وقَدْ خَلَقَ اللهُ الإِنْسَانَ؛ لِلْاِبْتِلَاءِ والاِمْتِحَان، والمُوَفَّقُ: مَنِ اجْتَازَ ذَلِكَ بِنَجَاح!

Allah created humans to test and try them, and the successful one is the one who passes this test well.

 

قال تعالى: ﴿الَّذِي خَلَقَ المَوْتَ والحَيَاةَ لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ أَيُّكُمْ أَحْسَنُعَمَلًا﴾.

فَتَعَالَوْا بِنَا نَسْتَعْرِضُ عَدَدًا مِنْ أَسْئِلَةِ ذَلِكَ الاِمْتِحَانِالرَّهِيب، والاِخْتِبَارِ المَهِيْب!

Allah says: “[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed.” So let us reflect upon some of the questions that will be asked in this great test and examination.

 

فَأَوَّلُ امْتِحَانٍ أُخْرَوِيٍّ يُخْضَعُ لَهُ الإِنْسَان؛ حِيْنَ يُوضَعُ في قَبْرِهِ، وتُعْرَضُ عَلَيْهِ ثَلَاثَةُ أَسْئِلَة؛ فَيُقَالُ لِلْرَّجُلِ: (1- مَنْ رَبُّكَ؟ 2- وما دِيْنُكَ؟ 3- ومَنْ نَبِيُّكَ؟) ولِهَذَا كانَ النبيُّ ﷺ إذا فَرَغَ مِنْدَفْنِ المَيِّتِ؛ وقَفَ عَلَيْهِ وقال: (اسْتَغْفِرُوا لِأَخِيْكُمْ، وسَلُوا لَهُ التَّثْبِيتَ؛ فَإِنَّهُ الآنَ يُسْأَلُ!).

The first question in the final exam will be when they are placed in their grave and asked three questions: Who is your Lord? What is your religion? Who is your Prophet? The Prophet ﷺ used to stand by a grave after burial and say, "Ask forgiveness for your brother and supplicate for him to be steadfast, for indeed, he is now being questioned."

 

ومِنْ أَسْئِلَةِ الاِمْتِحَانِ النِّهَائِي: السُّؤَالُ عَنِ (الصَّلَاةِ): هَلْحَافَظْتَ عَلَيْهَا أم ضَيَّعْتَهَا؟! قال ﷺ: (إِنَّ أَوَّلَ مَا يُحَاسَبُ بِهِ العَبْدُ يَوْمَ القِيَامَةِ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ صَلَاتُهُ: فَإِنْ صَلُحَتْ فَقَدْ أَفْلَحَ وَأَنْجَحَ، وَإِنْ فَسَدَتْ فَقَدْ خَابَ وَخَسِرَ).

Among the questions of the final test is about Salah (prayer): Did you maintain it, or did you neglect it? The Prophet ﷺ said, "The first matter that the servant will be brought to account for on the Day of Judgment is his prayer. If it is sound, he will have succeeded and prospered; and if it is corrupt, he will have failed and lost."

 

ومَنْ أَيْقَظَ أَوْلادَهُ لِلْمَدْرَسَةِ، ولم يُوْقِظْهُمْ لِلصَّلَاة؛ فَقَدْ قَدَّمَ النَّجَاحَ المُؤَقَّتَ الفَانِي، على النَّجَاحِ السَّرْمَدِيِّ البَاقِي، وعَرَّضَأَوْلَادَهُ لِلْرُّسُوبِ الحَقِيْقِي!

Those who wake their children for school but do not wake them for Salah have preferred temporary, fleeting success over everlasting success and have exposed their children to true failure.

 

ومِنْ أَسْئِلَةِ الاِمْتِحَانِ النِّهَائِي: السُّؤَالُ عَنْ (أَرْبَعَةِ) أَشْيَاء:

1- عَنْ عُمُرِكَ 2- وشَبَابِكَ 3- ومَالِكَ 4- وعِلْمِكَ.

قال ﷺ: (لَا تَزُولُ قَدَمَا ابْنِ آدَمَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ؛ حَتَّى يُسْأَلَ عَنْ خَمْسٍ: عَنْ عُمُرِهِ فِيمَا أَفْنَاهُ؟ وعَنْ شَبَابِهِ فِيمَا أَبْلَاهُ؟ وعَنْ مَالِهِ: مِنْ أَيْنَ اكْتَسَبَهُ، وفِيمَا أَنْفَقَهُ؟ ومَاذَا عَمِلَ فِيمَا عَلِمَ؟).

Another question in the final test is about four matters: your life, your youth, your wealth, and your knowledge. The Prophet ﷺ said, “The feet of the son of Adam will not move on the Day of Resurrection until he is asked about five things: his life and how he spent it, his youth and how he used it, his wealth, from where he earned it and on what he spent it, and what he did with his knowledge.”

 

ومِنْ أَسْئِلَةِ الاِمْتِحَانِ النِّهَائِي: السُّؤَالُ عَنِ(الرَّعِيَّةِ): هَلْ قُمْتَ بِمَسْؤُوْلِيَّتِهَا أَمْ فَرَّطَّتَ فيها؟! قال ﷺ: (كُلُّكُمْ رَاعٍ، وَكُلُّكُمْ مَسْؤُولٌ عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ: الإِمَامُ رَاعٍ وَمَسْؤُولٌ عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ، وَالرَّجُلُ رَاعٍ في أَهْلِهِ وَهُوَ مَسْؤُولٌ عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ، وَالمَرْأَةُ رَاعِيَةٌ في بَيْتِ زَوْجِهَا ومَسْؤُولَةٌ عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهَا، والخَادِمُ رَاعٍ في مَالِ سَيِّدِهِ وَمَسْؤُولٌ عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ).

And among the questions of the final test is about one’s responsibilities: Did you fulfill your duties, or did you fall short? The Prophet ﷺ said, “All of you are shepherds and each of you is responsible for his flock. The leader is a shepherd and is responsible for his subjects. A man is a shepherd over his family and is responsible for his flock. A woman is a shepherd over her husband’s household and is responsible for her flock. A servant is a shepherd over his master’s wealth and is responsible for his flock.”

 

ومِنْ أَسْئِلَةِ الاِمْتِحَانِ النِّهَائِي: السؤالُ عَنِ (النَّعِيم)؛ قال I: ﴿ثُمَّ لَتُسْأَلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ النَّعِيمِ﴾: أي (الَّذِي تَنَعَّمْتُمْ بِهِ في دَارِالدُّنيا: هَلْ قُمْتُمْ بِشُكْرِه، وأَدَّيْتُمْ حَقَّ اللهِ فيه، ولم تَسْتَعِيْنُوا به على مَعَاصِيه؟ أَمِ اغْتَرَرْتُمْ بِهِ، ولم تَقُوْمُوا بِشُكْرِه؟ بَلْ رُبَّمَا اسْتَعَنْتُمْ بِهِ على مَعَاصِي الله!). وعَنْ جابرِ t قال: (جَاءَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وأَبُو بَكْرٍ وعُمَرُ؛فَأَطْعَمْنَاهُمْ رُطَبًا، وسَقَيْنَاهُمْ مِنَ المَاءُ). فقال ﷺ: (هذَا مِنَ النَّعِيمِ الَّذِي تُسْأَلُونَ عَنْهُ!).

One of the final questions will be about the blessings you enjoyed. Allah says: “Then you will surely be asked that Day about pleasure.” Meaning, the blessings enjoyed in this world: did you thank Allah for them and fulfill His rights over them, or did you use them in disobedience? On an occasion, the Prophet ﷺ visited some of his companions who offered him fresh dates and water, upon which he remarked, "This is part of the blessings about which you will be questioned."

 

ومِنْ أَسْئِلَةِ الاِمْتِحَانِ النِّهَائِي: السُّؤَالُ عَنِ (الجَوَارِحِ، والحَوَاسِّ):هَلِ اسْتَعْمَلْتَهَا في الطَّاعَاتِ والمُبَاحَات؟ أَمْ في المَعَاصِي والمُنْكَرَات؟ قال U: ﴿إِنَّ السَّمْعَ وَالْبَصَرَ وَالْفُؤَادَ كُلُّ أُولَئِكَ كَانَ عَنْهُ مَسْئُولًا﴾.

Another question will be about the senses and faculties Allah blessed you with: Did you use them in obedience and permissible acts, or in sins and wrongful deeds? Allah says: “Indeed, the hearing, the sight, and the heart - about all those [one] will be questioned.”

 

أَقُوْلُ قَوْلِي هَذَا، وَأسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ لِيْ وَلَكُمْ مِنْ كُلِّ ذَنْبٍ؛ فَاسْتَغْفِرُوْهُ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الغَفُورُ الرَّحِيم

الخُطْبَةُ الثَّانِيَة

الحَمْدُ للهِ عَلَى إِحْسَانِه، والشُّكْرُ لَهُ على تَوْفِيْقِهِ وامْتِنَانِه، وأَشْهَدُ أَنْ لا إِلَهَ إِلَّا الله، وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبدُهُ وَرَسُولُه.

 

أَمَّا بَعْدُ: فَإِنَّ مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللهِ بِعِبَادِهِ: أَنَّ ﴿مَنْ جَاءَ بِالحَسَنَةِ فَلَهُ عَشْرُ أَمْثَالِهَا وَمَنْ جَاءَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ فَلَا يُجْزَى إِلَّا مِثْلَهَا﴾. قال ابنُمَسْعُودٍ t: (هَلَكَ مَنْ غَلَبَ آحَادُهُ أَعْشَارَهُ!).

To proceed: Among Allah’s mercy to His servants is that “Whoever comes [on the Day of Judgment] with a good deed will have ten times the like thereof [to his credit], and whoever comes with an evil deed will not be recompensed except the like thereof.” Abdullah ibn Mas'ud said, “The one whose sins outnumber his good deeds has indeed perished.”

 

فَهَذِهِ أَسْئِلَةُ الاِمْتِحَانِ الأَخِير! وهَذَا هُوَ مِعْيَارُ المُحَاسَبَةِوالتَّدْقِيْقِ؛ فَأَعِدُّوا لِلْسُّؤَالِ جَوَابًا، ولِلْجَوَابِ صَوَابًا!

These are the questions of the final test, and this is the criterion for accountability. So, prepare an answer for these questions and ensure your answers are correct!

 

ونَتِيْجَةُ هذا الاِمْتِحَان: إِمَّا إلى جَنَّةٍ نَعِيمُهَا مُقِيْم، أو إلى نَارٍعَذَابُهَا أَلِيم! فَبَادِرْ مِنَ الآن، وخَطِّطْ لِمُسْتَقْبَلِكَ الدَّائِم، وأَمِّنْ على حَيَاتِكَ في الآخِرَة، قَبْلَ أَنْ تَقُولَ: ﴿يَا لَيْتَنِي قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِيْ﴾.

The result of this test will either lead to an everlasting paradise or a painful torment. So, hasten from now, plan for your eternal future, and secure your life in the Hereafter before you regret, saying: “Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life.”

* اللَّهُمَّ أَعِزَّ الإِسْلامَ والمُسْلِمِينَ، وأَذِلَّ الشِّرْكَ والمُشْرِكِيْن، وارْضَ اللَّهُمَّ عَنِ الخُلَفَاءِ الرَّاشِدِيْن، الأَئِمَّةِ المَهْدِيِّين: أَبِي بَكْرٍ، وعُمَرَ، وعُثمانَ، وعَلِيّ؛ وعَنْ بَقِيَّةِ الصَّحَابَةِ والتابعِين، ومَنْ تَبِعَهُمْبِإِحْسَانٍ إلى يومِ الدِّين.

* اللَّهُمَّ فَرِّجْ هَمَّ المَهْمُوْمِيْنَ، وَنَفِّسْ كَرْبَ المَكْرُوْبِين، واقْضِ الدَّينَ عَنِالمَدِيْنِين.

* اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ اللهُ لا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، أَنْتَ الغَنِيُّ ونَحْنُ الفُقَرَاء؛ أَنْزِلْعَلَيْنَا الغَيْثَ ولا تَجْعَلْنَا مِنَ القَانِطِيْنَ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْتَغْفِرُكَ إِنَّكَ كُنْتَ غَفَّارًا، فَأَرْسِلِ السَّمَاءَ عَلَيْنَا مِدْرَارًا.

* عِبَادَ الله: ﴿إِنَّ اللهَ يَأْمُرُ بِالعَدْلِ وَالإحْسَانِ وَإِيتَآءِ ذِي القُرْبَى وَيَنْهَى عَنِ الفَحْشَاءِ وَالمُنْكَرِ وَالبَغْيِ يَعِظُكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ﴾.

* فَاذْكُرُوا اللهَ يَذْكُرْكُمْ، وَاشْكُرُوْهُ على نِعَمِهِ يَزِدْكُمْ ﴿وَلَذِكْرُ اللهِ أَكْبَرُ وَاللهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَصْنَعُونَ﴾.
